The Trust-Owned Businesses Database provides a comprehensive directory of U.S. companies that have transitioned to various trust-based ownership models, with a significant focus on Employee Ownership Trusts (EOT) and Perpetual Purpose Trusts. This dataset tracks over 60 organizations across diverse sectors, including industrials, healthcare, information technology, and consumer staples. The records demonstrate a growing trend in trust formation between 2014 and 2026, highlighting a shift toward long-term stewardship and employee-centric governance over traditional exit paths. California, Oregon, and North Carolina show the heaviest concentrations of these structures.
